My Supports

Problems or challenges; everyone has them but not everyone has a support system to help them. I have been blessed to have my family as my main support system. Family, of course, is the foundation of my support system from my mom to my cousins. My mom and I own a small business and have worked together for over 15 years, so she is not only my mom but my friend and partner. My step-dad is a support because he helps me with my dogs, who are now his, and gives me some very good advice; business and personal. My brother is always there for me and my cousins are as well in whatever capacity I need. Without my family, I would be hard pressed to positively go through each day.

Professionally, as stated above, my main support is my mom. My step-dad and other family members have helped over the years. I must say the Internet is also a great resource. I have used the Internet to research how to manage a business to using Pinterest to find new ideas. Since the economy has shifted over the last five years, these resources have been the difference along with my family in keeping the business running. Since I work with children, I will have to say my parents are usually a support system by working with me to ensure their child is happy and learning. The teachers are a support system as well. All the teachers have opportunities to work with me to help with their children and parents to creating ideas or suggestions that have changed the business’s policy over the years. Without the support of the management, teacher and parents, I would not be able to function some days.

My support system besides the people in my life and the Internet are reading, bible study and school. Since stress is main problem in my life, I use my reading to forget about the day until tomorrow in the evening. One rule I follow is no business after hours. So far, this rule is broken when needed but has worked well for me stress wise. My bible study keeps me grounded and helps me to grow as a person. School is actually a great support because not only am I working toward a degree but I am also staying up-to-date on policies and procedures in early childhood care.

The current problem I am dealing with is my state assessment for my business. I have used several resources as a support system; namely my licensing counselor and research. My licensing counselor’s support is a must have because the state will have a large part to play in my assessment. The research I have conducted has given me support because learning to improve is never a waste of time.

  1. I love your picture with the saying. It is so true. It's is great to have friends and family. However, like you said there are outside supports that we may not always thing about as support. So thank you for bringing that to the forefront of my mind. You and my other classmates are supports. I appreciate you being here for me.
